Hi everyone:

One evening early last week my husband hollered at me from the bathroom. He yelled at me to bring him a shoe."Huh?" I wondered. "He's in the bathroom, why does he need a shoe?" But I am (occasionally) an obedient wife and pulled a shoe out of the closet. Our bathroom has two doors, one going into the junk room and one going into our bedroom. It's not an ideal situation but I didn't design the house. I took the shoe to him at the junk room door. He was just standing there in the middle of the bathroom. He took the shoe and pointed at the floor. There, on the carpet in the middle of the doorway was this gigantic spider. It had to be at least a foot wide - well, maybe two inches. He was brown and had black markings on his back. With shoe in hand, Abe took one small step toward this creature. The little monster freaked and high-tailed it out of there. He ran right under our bed and disappeared! Abe and I just stood and looked at each other. And Silly hadn't been there to go after it.

That night I moved onto the couch. I have a nice, comfortable couch. The seat is as wide as a twin sized bed and a little longer. It's very soft and to lay on it you sink right down in. It's bliss. Abe kept telling me that the spider wasn't going to bother me but I wasn't convinced. I'm not sure he was all that convinced either. For some reason if there's a spider in the room it will search me out and come bite me. I don't like them. I'm not arachnaphobic but I don't trust them.

I stayed on the couch almost a week. Every morning when I went into the bedroom to get dressed I checked all my clothes. I had to have shoes on when I made the bed. I didn't want that monster pouncing on my toes and turning them into chew rags.

Sunday evening Abe took me out to dinner. Normally I don't eat much. I'm living on Slim Fast and have lost 72 pounds. (Breaking my arm here to pat myself on the back....) But I hadn't eaten in a couple weeks and I was hungry. I wanted a hamburger. So, we went to the local Sonic and I pigged out on half a hamburger. (My stomach is too small to comfortably hold a whole one.) While sitting there I gasped and jerked my head over at Abe. He looked at me wondering what was going on. I said, "Oh, no! Ethan's on his way up!" Normally I love my son's visits but not this time. This meant I had to give up the couch and go back to the bed. (Our spare bed is in storage and our guest room has been turned into a junk room.) Abe knew what I was thinking and he just laughed at me.

When we got home he pulled me into the bedroom and made me watch while he took the bed apart and lifted it up so I could see under it. Well, I didn't see any big, hairy, brown spiders but it could still be in there hiding under the dresser or behind the bookcase. So, I've spent the last two nights in that bed but sleeping very little. Anyone have any suggestions?

O.K. so you haven't heard anything from me in half a year. I'm really frustrated with this web site. I started it because I wanted to learn HTML and I did pick up quite a bit of it in the year and a half I worked with it but by now I've forgotton most of it. There are so many things I want to do with this site and don't have the expertise. Abe is gone 13 hours a day during the week then does radio on the weekend. (You might be able to catch him some Sunday morning between 6 and 7 o'clock. It's a 50,000 watt clear channel station, AM 1090 KAAY in Little Rock. Their broadcast area is from Cuba to Canada.) He simply does not have the time to work with me and I am frustrated.

I threw in the towel and quit working with the site. It seemed all I was doing was adding fonts and I want so much more for this site than to just offer free fonts. So, I simply quit working on the site. I did eventually get around to putting a notice on there that the site would be closing. The domain name was scheduled to expire in July and I decided to leave it online till then. I actually called Mindspring and had the site scheduled for termination at the end of June.

I had no idea this site was so valuable. So many of you wrote asking me to keep it online. I read every letter and appreciated every one. You can thank a man named Derek who lives in Detroit. His letter convinced me that I needed to keep this site open. So, Mindspring reactivated the account without a fee and Dotster let me renew the domain name even though I had already told them I wasn't going to. The site will remain online, at least for a while.
