On the last day of kindergarten, all the children brought presents
for their teacher. The florist's son handed the teacher a gift. She
shook it,held it up and said, "I bet I know what it is-it's some
flowers!"
"That's right!" shouted the little boy.
Then the candy store owner's daughter handed the teacher a gift. She
held it up, shook it and said. "I bet I know what it is-it's a box
of candy!"
"That's right!" shouted the little girl.
The next gift was from the liquor store owner's son. The teacher held
it up and saw that it was leaking. She touched a drop with her finger
and tasted it. "Is it wine?" she asked.
"No," the boy answered.
The teacher touched another drop to her tongue. "Is it champagne?" she
asked.
"No," the boy answered.
Finally, the teacher said, "I give up. What is it?"

Yes, I'm still here and yes, it's been awhile since there's been a
newsletter posted. And I've decided that, for now anyway, I won't
be sending the newsletter so often. You'll be getting one whenever
there's been enough changes to let you know about.
There's a big long song and dance routine that I won't bore you with
but I'll share a portion of the story. First of all Renae's Room is
not funded by anyone but me. I've made no money from advertising
and so far the bookstore has been a wash. While it would be nice to
have an income from the site, that's not why I'm here.
Last year I started saving my money in order to upgrade my old
Pentium. I scrounged and saved all my pennies, my birthday money,
and when my mother asked what I wanted for Christmas I told her I
wanted money and I saved that too. Well, I still have about a third
of it, but recently I went out and bought a Pentium II. I shouldn't
have. I should have know to walk out that door when the business
owner snickered at me when he heard I still used a Pentium.
This new machine only had a 3.6g hard drive. That's not enough.
Before making the purchase I asked the guy if I could move my 13g
hard drive over. He responded positively stating that it wouldn't
be any problem at all. What he failed to tell me was that in order
for it to not be a problem I would have to totally erase my 13g drive
first. I can't do that. I've got programs that I've purchased online
by download that I'll lose. When I tried taking it back he copped an
attitude and refused the return.
So, here I sit with a computer that spontaneously reboots whether I'm
using it or not. One morning while in the shower I heard the thing
beep and knew it had rebooted. I've been too upset to deal with much
concerning the computer and that means Renae's Room has had little
in the way of updates.
But we can always look for a brighter side can't we? My husband has
a birthday coming up. Maybe I'll give this beast to him and reclaim
my old Pentium and start saving again. Who knows, perhaps in another
year I can buy something else?
